

Daniel Oliver Hancock, “Dano”, forty-two years old of Melbourne, Florida, died in a single vehicle crash in the early morning hours of Monday, January 1, 2018. This occurred on state road 46 eastbound near Sanford, Florida.
Daniel was born in Norfolk, Virginia on February 17, 1975 to Shirley D. Hancock and George E. Hancock, Jr. Growing up in Norfolk, Virginia he made lifelong friends on the baseball field and in the classroom. After attending Norview High School, he graduated from Lake Taylor High School in 1992. After trying many jobs, he served an apprenticeship in Iron Workers’ Local Union # 79, leading to journeyman status. After moving to Melbourne, Florida he transferred his union membership into Local # 808 in Orlando,
He is survived by his parents, Shirley and George Hancock and his life-partner Michelle Smith, as well as his reason for being, his five year old son, Dylan Graham Hancock.
On the fraternal side of his family, he is also survived by his grandmother of Norfolk, Peggy Hancock; his aunt Bonita Mercer of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; his aunt Angela Hancock of Portland, Oregon; and his uncle Hugh Hancock of Norfolk.
On the maternal side, he is survived by aunts Patty Dusik, Debbie Gentry, and Elaine Stemper and his uncle Kenny Dusik, all of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He is survived by thirteen cousins and their children, as well as spouses.
He is also survived by his life-partner’s step father Mark Darmanin, her mother Cheri Darmanin, both of Coral Springs, Florida; and her grandmother Carol Helton of Palm Bay.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
