Gary Joseph MacDonald, born on April 12, 1942, in Springhill, Nova Scotia, Canada, passed away on February 5, 2026, at 83. A humorous, devoted, and kind-hearted individual, Gary will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Gary was a veteran of the Canadian Navy, bringing honor and dedication to his service. After his military career, he continued to enrich the lives of those around him with his warm personality and infectious humor.
Gary brought immense love into the life of his family. He was known for his friendly nature and talent making others laugh. Married to his beloved wife, Henrietta, for 36 wonderful years, Gary cherished the time they spent dancing together. They met while working together, and their love story was filled with joy and laughter.
A devoted family man, Gary loved his children and took great pride in his toy car collection of muscle cars and model trains. He also enjoyed RV camping and had a passion for old-time country music. His love for dancing included the 2-step, waltz, jive, and other classic styles.
Gary's legacy is one of friendliness, lovability, and humor. He was a dynamite guy who made a lasting impact on everyone he met. He resided in Palm Bay, Florida, for the last 11 years of his life.
He is survived by his wife Henrietta MacDonald. Children Patrick MacDonald and wife Alison, Rick Collette, Shirley Collette-Hunt and husband Cecil, and Brian MacDonald. His grandchildren, Gisel Budrow & her husband Paul Junior, and Jamie Collette. Gary's great-grandchildren include Aubrey and Deegan Budrow, Colton Jackson, and Autumn Collette. He is also survived by his brother Gordan MacDonald and wife Madelaine, Michael MacDonald, sister-in-law Claudette Cormier, and brother-in-law John Paul Maillet and wife Rose Marie, and numerous nieces and nephews who will also hold his memory dear.
A Committal service will be held at Fountainhead Memorial Park, at 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, Florida, February 18, 2026, from 12:00pm to 12:30pm. Gary's final resting place will be at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay.
Gary Joseph MacDonald will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched
