Genevieve Tate Loar, 93, passed away on August 25th at home. She was predeceased by her parents Foster C. and Annie A. Carr; two husbands, Lee H. Tate and Robert K. Loar; her son, Wayne L. Tate; and two brothers, Foster Carr and Allen Carr.
Born in Newton, Mississippi and raised in Mobile, Alabama, she graduated from Murphy High School in 1942 and began her Civil Service career at Brookley AFB in Mobile as the Base Commanders Secretary. She moved to Brevard County in 1966 where she resided for 52 years. Gen retired from Civil Service at Patrick AFB as a Supervisory Security Specialist with 32 years of service. Many considered her "the best boss they ever had." In all of her 32 years of service and various job titles she strived to be successful.
She was a member of Our Savior's Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach. Other memberships included The Military Officers Association of America Auxiliary, The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #163, Women of the Moose, Merritt Island and Patrick AFB Retiree Lunch Group.
Her children and family were so very important to her. She is survived by four children, Carolyn Byrd(Billy), New Caney, Texas, Patrick Tate(Toby), Dallas Georgia, Nancy Johnson, Cartersville Georgia and Amy Ledbetter(Dan), Rockledge, Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Genevieve was the epitome of style and grace. She taught us all how to conduct ourselves in good times and bad. Although there is great sorrow at her passing, we are thankful for her life with us and eternal life with Christ.
The funeral mass will be held Friday, August 31, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1136 Seminole Drive, Rockledge, Florida 32955. A graveside committal is to follow at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, Florida 32909. There will be a repass inside the funeral home after the committal.
Memorial Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society (Church of Our Saviour Cocoa Beach) or St. Jude's Children"s Research Hospital.
