Ignazio Edward Sorrentino, 91, of Palm Bay died Sunday morning at his home. A native of Italy he came to the United States when he was 8 years old. He was a mechanic and had worked on both automobile and aircraft engines. An accomplished musician he formed and played in his own band for many years as well as accompanying such greats as Tommy Dorsey. His primary instruments of choice were the saxophone and the clarinet. He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Palm Bay and was also a veteran of WW II having served in the US Army.
Survivors include his wife: Phyllis; daughter: Maria Wiseman of Palm Bay; sister: Maria Tumbiolo of Palm Bay; granddaughter: Jennifer Guzman of Palm Bay and a great-granddaughter: Isabella Maria Guzman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (8/29) at in St. Josephs Catholic Church, Palm Bay. Interment will follow in Fountainhead Memorial Park. Friends may call at Fountainhead Funeral Home, Babcock St. SE, Palm Bay Wednesday (8/28) from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
