He was born January 11, 1931 in Celina, Ohio to Orval and Mary Lehman Meyer. Jack was appointed to the Lima Police Department in June, 1955, retiring as senior sergeant in 1986 after 31 years. He was instrumental in starting the SWAT team at the LIMA Police Department. He graduated from South High School in 1948 and attended Lima Techincal College. He served in the United States Navy for four year. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, now Trinity UMC, FOP, FOPA and Elk's Lodge. He was an avid golfer, bowler and hunter.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Ellen (Davies) Meyer and his children, Bethann and David (Jessica) Meyer of Palm Bay, Florida and one grandchild, Jack Brendan Meyer.
A memorial service will be held in Lima at a later date.
