James Rodney Mann was born on May 15, 1962 in West Monroe, Louisiana. He left us on March 1, 2016. He is survived by his wife Jayneen Marie Mann and their two children, Rodney Tyler Mann and Hannah Elizabeth Mann. He is survived by his two brothers, Stuart Mann and Jim Mann, and one sister, Carmen Cardin, and his mother, Voe Mann. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. He was given to us by God to treasure in the life he built, to honor in his service given to our country, and to respect and love as the husband and father he was to his loved ones.
Rodney retired from the U. S. Army as a Sergeant First Class (SFC) where he distinguished himself with over 22 years of Military Service as a 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Soldier. He served with distinction in Vincenza, Italy as an Artillery Forward Observer, Bad Tolz, Germany, Stuttgart, Germany, and Fort Carson, Colorado as a Special Forces Weapons Expert (18B). He served at Fort Bragg, as a Survival Evasion Resistance Escape (SERE) Instructor. His deployments include Provide Comfort in Northern Iraq, Bosnia for Joint Endeavor, and Rwanda for Humanitarian Relief. While assigned to United States Special Operations Command, he deployed to over 60 countries. In support of U.S. State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL Air Wing), he deployed to Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Honduras, Malta, Souda Bay, and Cyprus.
The Valor, Trust, and Patriotism he learned as a Special Forces Soldier never left him, as friends and family will attest.
