Janet H Mclaughlin

Celebrating the life of Janet Estelle McLaughlin (06-19-19 – 03-03-2014), Jane McLaughlin departed this life for her eternal rest on March 3rd, 2014. She was born in Yonkers, NY to the parents of Gilbert and Cornelia Hynard. After finishing high school she graduated from the University of the State of New York - State Normal School, New Paltz, NY where she majored in Education with a minor in Art and received her Teachers Certificate in Kindergarten and Common Branch Studies. Jane was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and during her college days President of Epsilon Delta Chi Sorority and a member of the Clionian Sorority. She and her husband Tom spent their married life in Patterson, NY where she helped run the Thomas McLaughlin Insurance Agency as a licensed insurance broker. Upon retirement they moved to Barefoot Bay, Fl in 1973. Some of her many hobbies included crafts, gardening, carpentry, bird watching, shell collecting and her crab trapping off the Barefoot Bay pier where she was often called the “First Lady of the Pier”.

Jane leaves to mourn her loving daughter Kathleen J. Lewis and her husband Barry of Ocala, FL; her grandson Dan and his wife Janine Lewis of Naples, FL; and their two children Courtney and Justin.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband Thomas J. McLaughlin in 1988 and her sister Ruth in 1975.
