Lillian Silverman Schreiber, age 93, of W. Melbourne FL, died July 29, 2016, at Melbourne Terrace Rehabilitation Center. Born November 29, 1922, in Baltimore MD, Lillian was known for her wit, intelligence, and independence. She loved a good party and was a master of the art of conversation; everyone, including her grandchildren’s friends, wanted to have a drink with her. Lillian was predeceased by her beloved husband, Francis R. Schreiber, with whom she shared a love of family, the opera, birding and road trips. She is survived by daughters Judith Backof, Ft. Pierce, and Barbara Schreiber (Bill Ribarsky), Charlotte; grandchildren Sarah (Will) Batson, Melbourne, David (Kazue) Backof, Tokyo, and Dinah Ribarsky, Boston; and great-grandchildren Kaia and Caleb Batson and Shion and Rex Backof. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brevard, Promise of Brevard, Metropolitan Opera Fund, or National Audubon Society.
