

He was born in Albany, New York to Helen (Solomon) Abrams and Lester Abrams. Dick attended Linton High School and, at the age of seventeen, enlisted in the United States Navy where he was in radio communications. He was honorably discharged from the Navy after serving four years of service during the Vietnam War.
After serving his country, he attended Schenectady Community College and obtained an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. He then joined the City of Schenectady Police Department as a patrol officer and retired in 1995 after 20 years of service. His greatest gratification was working in the Police Community Center. While serving the public, he also obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management.
He loved fishing, hunting camping and boating. He was a motorcyclist, scuba diver, race car enthusiast and classic car collector...his favorite was his 1951 Chevy Pickup Truck.
He will be remembered for his good heart and generosity.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna (Walczak) Abrams; stepdaughter, Michelle Pawkett; stepson, Mark Pawkett and two beautiful grandchildren Ella and Record Pawkett. He also leaves behind a sister, Sara Gannon as well as other family members. He was predeceased by two other sisters, Lonnie and Marcia. In addition, he leaves behind many cherished friends including George “Harry” Robinson, Chris Cates, Linda Piurek and a loving extended family, especially Scott Wilson.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fountainhead Funeral Home, Palm Bay, Florida.
A private memorial service will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
