

Mallio, Richard B (“Dick”) of Palm Bay and formerly Arlington, MA, at age 78, on Friday, October 27th at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay. Son of the late Bartholomew R. “Pete” and Mary (Agurkis) Mallio. Devoted husband of 51 years to Osee C. Mallio and beloved father of Douglass R. Mallio and wife Heather of Indianapolis, Charlotte J. Gallant and husband Steve of Mansfield, MA and Lisa M. Thygerson and husband John of Huntsville, AL. Doting, hands-on, grandfather of Shaun Forester. Richard is survived by his well-loved brother William (Bill) Mallio and his family and by the family of his deceased brother Charles Mallio. Also predeceasing him is his brother Stephen Mallio. Surviving are his in-laws: Phillips and Louise Brady and family, Althea Brady and Joann Hagen. Richard was gifted with a legion of co-workers and friends-who-are-family who will both miss his love and laughter and celebrate his unique place in their lives.
Richard was born in Boston, MA and was a graduate of Boston Latin School and of Northeastern University where he earned undergraduate and graduate degrees. He served in the United States Army in the US and in Korea. He retired from Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Lincoln Labs in Lexington, MA in 2003 and then went on to work for five additional years at Harris Corporation in Florida (Palm Bay). His work experience also took him to Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands where he resided for an accumulated tour of 10 years.
The family will celebrate his life privately in Florida but a Memorial Celebration of Life service will be scheduled in Massachusetts in the spring of 2018.
