Born in Yonkers, New York, on September 14, 1938, to Edward and Gizella Bednar, Bob graduated from Commerce High School in 1956, where he studied bookkeeping.
In 1959, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Devens in Massachusetts. He achieved the rank of SP4 before being honorably discharged in 1962.
Following his military service, Bob pursued a diverse and industrious career that spanned multiple fields, including transportation and delivery logistics, finance, life and health insurance sales, real estate, and retail sales.
In the 1980s, Bob’s love of golf—and his distaste for harsh New York winters—led him to relocate to Florida. There, he became an active member of several veterans’ associations in and around the Melbourne area. Known for his sly grin and magnetic charm, Bob made friends wherever he went.
A lifelong Yankees fan, Bob was also a proud supporter of the "Make America Great Again" movement.
Bob is survived by his son Robert of North Carolina; his son Michael and daughter-in-law Charlene of New York; his step-daughter Kim and her husband David of North Carolina; and his grandson Christopher and his wife Toni. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gizella, and his daughter-in-law, Michelle.
Bob will be interred at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on August 25, 2025. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
