Born in New York City, he was the son of Joseph and Marie Pape. After graduating Andrew Jackson High School in Jamaica, NY he served in the Army Air Corp in Europe and the Pacific Theatres as a Staff Sergeant.
After his service, he had a distinguished banking career in the savings and loan industry. He will be remembered as the trusted friend and mentor to many. Many will also remember his athletic ability, sense of humor, and determination.
In addition to Louise, he is survived by his son Robert Jr. (Diane) and three grandchildren, Robert III, Eileen and Bradley.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
