Selwyn C. Jackson was born on November 4th, 1929 in Kingston Jamaica WI to John E. Jackson and Catherine Thomas. He was raised by his grandmother until he was four years old when his mother passed away, and then lived with his father and stepmother Mary. By the age of five he could read most books especially the bible and started elementary school. Being well prepared by his grandmother, he was able to deal with all subjects well. His father quickly recognized his aptitude for learning and sent him to live with his uncle who was the headmaster of the Bath Government school in Bath, St. Thomas, Jamaica.
Selwyn stayed with his uncle for many years until he returned to his father at the age of nineteen. He started painting, and painted homes, hotels and offices with various companies. He was then recommended to work for McManus & Co as a foreman painter at West Indian Sugar Company in Frome, Westmoreland, Jamaica where he worked until February 1958.
Selwyn met his future wife Joyce Garrick while travelling to England in 1958 and they were united in Holy Matrimony March 1960. They adopted the Advent message and were both baptized in Coventry. He was employed by the British Motor Corporation in Coventry, England for ten years before emigrating to America in 1967. He worked in banking for several years before starting work at the Brookdale Medical Center until retirement in 1993.
During his 30 years in Brooklyn he was a member of the Hanson Place S.D.A church where he served as a chorister, deacon, pathfinder counselor. He moved permanently to Palm Bay Florida in 1998 to join his wife. His hobbies included gardening, dominoes, writing poems and playing the organ.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, son Loxley, brothers Esbert (Judge) Ronnie, and sisters Genevieve and Genevieve. He leaves to cherish his memory his 7 children Beverley, Michael, Claudette, Derek, Chris, Sharon, Barbara, brothers Oswald, Aston, sisters Fay (Cutie), Madge, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his dear church family.

A visitation for Selwyn will be held Sunday, August 9, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909, followed by a celebration of life service from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
Due to the COVID19 restrictions this event is limited to 50 people in attendance. We are requiring attendees to wear mask and observe social distancing.
