Sheryl dedicated her life to caring for others, both as a compassionate and devoted registered nurse and as a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a strength that carried others, a fierce and loving spirit, and a wonderfully quick wit that brought joy to those around her. Sheryl was as funny as she was strong-willed; never afraid to speak her mind and always ready with a clever comeback. Her strength was undeniable. After bravely enduring a long and grueling battle with cancer, including years of intensive chemotherapy, Sheryl triumphed and went into remission with unshakable resolve. Her courage through that fight inspired everyone around her and became a true testament to the depth of her will and heart.
She found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures; curling up with a good book, marveling at the stars and her fascination with space, and seeking out fun and laughter wherever she could. Sheryl brought light, laughter, and love into every room she entered.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 40 years, John Powers; her daughters Amanda (Renee) Powers and Candace (Dominic) Powers; her son Michael (Kylie) Powers; her sister Susan Umlah ,sister in law Sharon Powers and special ‘sister’ Charlotte Sizemore. Niece and nephews Jocelyn Stinson (Luke Stinson) Koby Torrence and Dylan Lundquist and her treasured grandchildren, Ava Johnson, Zachary Johns and Hendrix Robinson, along with grandnieces Kenzie and Kelsey Stinson. She was beloved “Boo-Boo”to many along the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John.
Sheryl’s life was a beautiful reflection of generosity, humor, curiosity, and unwavering love. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, strength, and compassion. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved her.
