William "Bill" Chandler aka Poppy to his 13 grandchildren, (77), passed away on February 27, 2022 in Palm Bay, FL surrounded by his wife Barbara and their children, grandchildren, Bill's siblings and family friends. Bill was the husband of Barbara Bennett Chandler for 53 wonderful years.
Bill was born in Laurel County, Kentucky to Paul and Anna Taylor Chandler and was ONE of 13 Siblings!
A graduate of Lily High School, he later attended University of Kentucky's dental program prior to being drafted in the US ARMY. He quickly rose to rank of Sargent and acted a trainer for Army Rangers in Ft Benning, GA.
He was honorably discharged from the Army after 16 months of duty and only after clearing the jungle (and filling it with uppercut). Bill was an exceptionally intelligent and talented man. Often an entrepreneur; throughout his life he also worked for the railroad, AOV Coal, Chandler Coal, Department of Housing and Urban Development and later as an independent over the road truck driver, owner and operator of HAP Mechanical HVAC and Roofing, President of Chandler Land Development and LC's Contracting Services, LLC and of course, mining for gold in Guyana! Most recently, he worked independently running heavy equipment with his son, Luke.
Having attended the Church of Christ, he was a fierce believer in the Lord and was a great teacher of the Word. Bill enjoyed family, friends, food and fellowship, bonfires and story time, mentoring young men throughout the years - many of whom are "family" today. He continued to work up until recently in lieu of full retirement.
He will be remembered for his loving kindness, compassion, forgiving spirit, humility, and, of course, his incredible sense of humor. He was bigger than life...a real life, everyday all-American hero.
Bill is survived by Barbara Bennett Chandler (formerly of Fogertown), daughter Marti and her children, Lexi and Manny; son Jason and wife Debrina and their children Macey and Laurel; son Luke and his wife Marilyn and their children Will and Madison, Ty, Nolan Maddux and Hunter. Daughter, Maggie and her children Maddy, Abbey and Liam, all of Palm Bay, Florida. His surviving siblings, brother,

Sister, Donna Chandler McIntyre, Flagler Beach, FL with her husband, Richard M McIntyre and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
