Mary Lou Lou La Plante

1938 - 2025

Mary Lou La Plante, loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and

great-grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 22, 2025 after

bravely battling a long illness.

Mary Lou was born in Detroit, Michigan to Frank and Rose Gwozdz. She married Al La Plante in

1957 and together they were fortunate enough to enjoy 67 years of marriage.

She was a woman who was devoted to her faith, loved camping, solving crossword puzzles,

playing games, but loved spending time with family most of all.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother and brothers Frank Jr. and Bob.

She is survived by her husband, Al, her children Greg (Dede) La Plante, Dave (Janet) La

Plante, and Sharon (Chris) Brown, and her grandchildren, Andrew (Kelly) La Plante, Megan

(Changsoo) Kim, Matthew (Kamrin) Brown, Emily Brown (fiancé Julian Straub), Jared La Plante

and her great-grandchildren, Bowen La Plante, Allison Brown and Jack Brown.

She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who were blessed to know her.

A funeral mass will be held on March 11, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church in

Tehachapi, CA. Graveside service to follow at the Bakersfield National Cemetery with reception

to follow at the church hall.
