Pat was a Fulbright Scholar who taught at the University in Lucknow, and later volunteered with Oxfam in India in the 1960’s. She was a school teacher, and ceramics glazer at St. Andrew’s Abbey for over 40 years where she was also an Oblate.
Pat was a servant of the poor, devoting her time to serving those less fortunate than herself. She spent much of her time collecting excess donated food from local orchards and grocery stores, distributing food and clothes to those in need in her community. She dedicated the majority of her life working with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and local churches.
Pat was an avid collector of music and books and loved all types of flowers and plants, which she often gave as gifts.
Thoughtful gifts, inspirational quotes, poems, and care baskets were her trademark.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents Thelma and Merton Dietzel, husband Louis Betz, brothers John and Richard Dietzel, and granddaughter Angelina Betz.
She is survived by her four sons Nathanael, Joseph, Philip and Andrew, sisters Mary, Margaret, Jean, Michaele, Kathleen and Beth, brothers Robert, Michael and James, and grandchildren Serena and Nathanael Jr.
