Adele was the wife of the late Lawrence Roche.
She grew up in Queens, NY and graduated from Bayside High School.
Adele was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Her positive and uplifting personality brought brightness to all those around her.
Adele was a good conversationalist and listener, a rare quality in today’s world. Not afraid to give people compliments, she often made others feel good about themselves just by being her kind and genuine self. Kind words about someone’s style were especially high praise from her, as Adele had a true sense of style and design, and she looked like a million bucks every time she left the house.
She had an adventurous spirit with 16 trips to visit daughter Patti in Alaska including zip lining through the treetops of Douglas Island at age 75, riding a Harley, and taking a helicopter to the top of Mendenhall Glacier.
Adele enjoyed traveling. Her many trips included journeys to Italy, France and Mexico with her sister Lorraine, kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland, and tropical vacations to Hawaii, Bermuda, Bahamas and many more.
As a former homeowner in Duck, NC there were many memorable trips and fun filled family vacations to the Outer Banks dating back to the late 1950’s and most recently Patti and John’s wedding in 2018.
Adele loved to dance. She was always the first one on the dance floor and loved to lead. She even won a “Twist” contest with her husband Larry.
She was happiest in her kitchen preparing holiday meals for her adoring family. She was a fabulous cook. Raising five children on a budget, she made average meals extraordinary and turned leftovers into works of art.
“Nanny” loved being a grandmother. She was so proud of all her grandchildren and attended as many of their events as possible. She had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren.
Family meant everything to Adele. She was the glue that kept many family contacts together. She was much loved and will be terribly missed by all who knew her.
Adele is survived by three children: Patricia (John) Ames, William (Karen) and Lawrence Jr. and five grandchildren; Casey (Katie) Roche, Jamie (Emily) Roche, Andy Jensen, Jordan Roche and Kelly Roche, sisters Lorraine Egloff, Louise Stagg and brother Edward Jerome.
She is reunited in Heaven with her husband Lawrence (d.1993), two children; James Roche (d.1985) Judith (James) Jensen (d.2018), sister Marceline (John) Meehan (d.2014), niece Kim (James) Scarpato (d.2012) and other loved ones who have passed.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no service or funeral at the current time. We will follow up with family and friends to plan the celebration of Adele’s beautiful life.
