Anita J. Capolupo (nee Checchio) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, September 29, 2016 one month short of her 89th Birthday. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 43 years, James V. Capolupo and her mother Elizabeth Marini. She is survived by her two children James P. (Joan) and Robert V. (Lisa) and four grandchildren Amanda, Alexander, Christopher and Emily.
Born in Philadelphia, Anita lived in Delaware County most of her life, spending many winters in Miami Beach and finally settling in Lancaster, PA. She was a proud 1945 alumni of Upper Darby High School. Anita was probably most proud of her family, devoting all of her time and love to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was active in Cub Scouts, PTA and organizing and attending events for her sons’ schools. She was a great cook, enjoyed music, taking dance lessons and learning languages from others. She loved people and could always be counted on as a great story teller. She loved to laugh.
Anita was recently recognized by the University of Pennsylvania on the 70th Anniversary of the groundbreaking ENIAC (world’s first computer) for her close support of and secretarial work for Drs. Eckert and Mauchley designers.
Services will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Strafford, PA on Friday, October 7. Visitation at 11 am in the chapel, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Interment will be at Sts Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Men of Malvern, c/o Malvern Retreat House, 315 S. Warren Ave., Malvern, PA 19355.
