She was born in Sandusky, Ohio on September 30, 1953, graduated in 1971 from Horseheads High School in Horseheads, NY and spent the majority of her adult life living in and around her beloved Ithaca, NY.
Ann worked for the US Postal Service for over 20 years and was an accomplished artist, passionate about painting in the theme of Visionary Realism. While the measure of an artist can’t possibly be summed up by their public recognition, Ann was proud to have her art shown in various art shows at the Dewitt Mall in Ithaca.
Ann loved animals; her favorites were horses, butterflies, but especially cats and dogs, of which she had many well-loved ones through the years. In her later years she found great joy kayaking and fishing with partner, Mike. She took the greatest pride in her long, beautiful, red hair. She also took pride in her long nails, that were lovingly cared for by her niece, Toni Hathaway. She lived a full, exploratory and inquisitive life that she loved, living it her own way and leaving it her own way, on the spookiest night of the year—even more ironic because she was always fascinated by horror, Halloween, and spooky stories and movies.
She was loved and will be sorely missed by her sister, Jane H. Wilber (Jeff) of Downingtown, PA and their children Julia (Alex) of Minneapolis, MN, Jason (Kayla) of Philadelphia, PA, Jennie(Alex) of East Norriton, PA, step-son David Gee of Lansing, NY, nieces and nephew, Toni Hathaway and her son, Jonathon of Waynesboro, PA, Patricia(Mike) and son, Aiden of Midlothian, VA, Rashel(Rob) of Andalusia, AL, Brian Hathaway(Natalie) of Sligo, PA and her lifelong best friend, Candy Lucas of Auburn, NY.
She was predeceased by her parents, Iler and Margaret (Bond) Hathaway, brothers Roger and Stephen, sisters-in-law Diana and Bobbie, step-mother Catherine Conaway Hathaway, former spouse Dan Gee and her beloved partner, Mike Szczerba.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the SPCA in her honor, keeping her legacy alive through the care of the animals inhabiting our earth.
