Anna Marie was born on October 22, 1932 to Stephen John Gress and Anna Smoley Gress in Munhall, PA. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Leonard D’Andrea. Together, they moved to Wayne, PA, where they raised their seven children. She was a dedicated poll worker for over 40 years. Her commitment to her community through volunteerism was only rivaled by her Catholic faith and unwavering devotion to her family.
As lifelong devout Catholics, Anna Marie and Leonard were first founding members of St. Isaac Jogues Church, where she served for many years as the first parish secretary. She often attributed her strong faith to her husband, who influenced her through his own strong spiritual foundation. Anna Marie had an exceptional ability to engage authentically and make anyone and everyone she met feel heard, cared for, and loved. All were welcome in her life.
Anna Marie was predeceased by Leonard, her husband of 63 years, her parents, and her siblings Stephen, Dolores, Armand, and Joan. She is survived by her seven children: Annette Kingkiner (Mark), Lisa D’Andrea (Richard), Celeste Weyl, Renee D’Andrea, Dr. Marilyn D’Andrea-Spica (Donald), Gloria D’Andrea (Brian), James D’Andrea (Courtney), thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren(plus two on the way), many children she raised as a nanny, and her beloved dog, Murphy.
