

Betty C. (nee Laumann) Burkey of Plymouth Meeting, PA, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, December 22, 2017, at Manor Care Nursing Home, in King of Prussia, PA. She was born in Norristown, PA., and was the daughter of the late Wilhelm S. Laumann and Elizabeth Anna Getty. Betty (known to all as “Sissy”) was the wife of the late Alfred B. Burkey Sr. and was a lifelong member of Cold Point Baptist Church, Plymouth Meeting, PA. Sissy was a loving wife, caring mother, and proud grandm
other/great grandmother to all her family. Sissy worked at the former Plymouth Golf Ball Company and loved to tell stories of how she and her co-workers used to make the golf balls used by the late pro Arnold Palmer. Sissy loved to play bingo, cards, and do cross-word puzzles. One of Sissy’s joys in life were babies as she had watched and minded countless family and friends children over the years touching and shaping the lives of many generations to come with her nurturing soul. Surviving are 3 children: Alfred B. Burkey Jr. (Judith) of Oley, PA., Mark W. Burkey of Warwick, PA., Michele D. (Liborio) Vacante of East Norriton, PA., 2 sisters, Essie (Elwood) Burkey, Norristown, PA., Beryl Roden, Eagleville, PA., 1 brother, Bill (Debbie) Laumann, Norristown, PA., 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, from 10:00-11:00AM at George Washington Memorial Park Chapel, 80 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, PA. 19462. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM and interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are with Alleva Funeral Home, Inc., Paoli, PA.
