She was a long time resident of Downingtown/East Brandywine Township. She was born on August 12, 1947 in Darby Hospital, to parents, Frank Sinex and Elsie Neeley. She graduated from Downingtown High School, class of 1965. She continued her education, graduating from Immaculata College with a degree in Business at the age of 60.
Carol established a career as a co-owner of Trade Talk newspaper and Hope Ambulance in Guthriesville, PA. She also worked as an administrative assistant at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church for over a decade, as well as Main Line Unitarian Church.
In addition to adoring her many friends and family, Carol had many passions and hobbies including genealogy, words with friends, reading books, and spiritual connections at First Presbyterian Church in West Chester. She was the president of Business and Professional Women for many years. Later, she was also on the Board of Directors for Steeple to People Ministries for over 30 years and the historical commission for East Brandywine Township until she was no longer able to get out of bed and literally unable to get to her computer to create a historical update newsletter for East Brandywine Township.
Carol was very proud of being a Sinex. She was proud of having family that came over from Sweden on the Kalmar Nickel boat and having an ancestor, Joseph Sinex who was the Lt. Col. at Little Round Top in Gettysburg in the Civil War. She was also proud of her family owning the Lyndell Country store and Franks Folly campground. In addition, Carol was one of the first women firefighters in Chester County at East Brandywine Fire Company.
Carol Sinex Schmidt was preceded in death by Franklin Pierce Sinex, Elsie Neely Sinex, Elsie Dixon Tarr Sinex and Frank Sinex.
