Pete was born on November 9, 1938, in Somerville, New Jersey to George Kenneth and Myrtle Pearl Lindabery. He grew up in Pottersville, New Jersey and graduated from Bernardsville High School (BHS) in 1956. He went on to study Chemical Engineering and Mathematics at Clemson University, SC, where he obtained his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry in 1960. Later he went to Wayne State University, MI for his MBA (‘67).
Pete and his family moved to Downingtown, PA in 1968 to continue his chemical engineering career at the Firestone Plastics Company in Pottstown, PA, continuing through many company changes and eventually retiring from Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Dallas, TX) as their Vice President / General Manager in 1998. After retirement he established his own consulting business, GPL & Associates, which he ran until 2008. His primary clients were the Vinyl Institute, the American Chemical Council and Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OxyChem).
Pete will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, distinguished OxyChem Chemical Engineer and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Executive, avid hunter and fisherman, experienced horseman, an American Brittany hunting dog trainer and breeder, world traveler, collector of fine arts and 1st edition published works, a passionate PVC/vinyl recycler, champion of social connections and conversation, humorist, a dedicated Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and proud Clemson Alum.
Those who know Pete will remember him for his infectious humor and overwhelming laughter. He had a rare gift for engaging others in conversation on just about every topic, and his smile and laugh always left a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. He was a passionate and devoted outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing all over the country, even traveling to remote destinations to experience one amazing expedition after another. A collector of firearms and fishing equipment, he also spent time handloading ammo and fly tying. Pete was also a passionate golfer, who was always open to opportunities to hit the course when traveling for business or pleasure. He was fortunate to have spent time on the green with Fuzzy Zeller and longtime drive champion Big Cat Williams. Pete was never without a story to share with anyone who would listen.
Pete was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life’s journey was one marked by love, passion, and laughter, as well as a profound dedication to finding the best fishing spot in the country. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life unexpectedly ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
