

Born in Darby, Pa on March 12th 1929 he was the son of the late William and Mary Shellem. He was the youngest of five. Preceded in death by brother Bill, and sisters Mildred, Dorothy and Marie.
Just shy of 96 years, Howard blessed his family with immeasurable love.
Howard was predeceased by his loving wife Dolores (DiOrio) of 34 years and was devoted to her until his death.Howard is survived by his daughters Catherine (Jim Twaddell), Mary Morelli (Carmine), and granddaughters, Maria Lewis (DJ), Ashley Morelli, Alyssa Bernardi. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
An army veteran, Howard served during the Korean War from 1950-1953. He was also stationed aboard the USS William T. Powell. He loved his country, was very patriotic and the last song he sang before his death was God Bless America. Howard was one of the best mechanics and could fix or figure out almost anything. He worked at DiAntonio’s Gulf Station in Paoli, with his nephews and made many friends.
He later went on to work at National Rolling Mills for the rest of his working career where he had many memories.
Howard was a volunteer at Great Valley Middle School in the cafeteria for many years. He made sure he was there at the time when all three granddaughters attended the middle school.
Whitey, as known by his family and friends, could always be found watching the Dallas cowboys and Philadelphia Phillies. He enjoyed fishing and turkey hunting and working in his back yard.
He had a passion for sailing and loved being by the water. You could find Whitey every morning at McDonalds having breakfast and he developed a group of breakfast friends there.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Saturday, March 1st from 10:30am-11:30am at St. Patrick Church, 104 Channing Ave. Malvern, Pa. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am. Burial Private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Howard’s memory to the Coatesville VA Medical Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
