My son, my best friend for 45 years, Ian Rebecca Lohr, died Friday morning, March 27, 2020, from an aggressive barrage of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Diagnosed in October, he was released the week before Christmas in remission. Out of the hospital in remission at 3:30, the day Rise of Skywalker came out, at 6 we were in the theatre for the premier. That was Ian. Writer, musician, artist, advocate for LBGTQ rights, Whovian, Star Wars superfan and political activist, he was the kindest, gentlest human being on this earth. He had Christmas with the whole family at his place and said “It was the greatest Christmas ever”. On March 5 he celebrated his 45th birthday at his favorite restaurant. And, then…on Thursday March 26 he was in a coma. We were so fortunate to able to be with him his last 2 hours. We were with him. Though in a coma, his Doctors assured us he could hear us. All the immediate family were there in person, or on the phone and we offered love, pride, admiration and more love. We poured out our hearts until there was nothing left, and he was gone. He leaves his loving extended family and all those many friends across the world. The people he touched never left his presence unaffected. The massive outpouring of love and affection for him is humbling. It is the world's loss.
“Now cracks a noble heart. —Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!”
There are no formal arrangements. This summer we hope to have a celebration of life, probably in Philadelphia. We will let you know. If you wish friends may make a donation to moneyculture.org, his 501c-3, and all proceeds will go directly to the Martha and Ian Lohr Foundation to benefit cancer victims.
Please leave a memory below. Peace and Love,
