

John was the youngest of four sons born to immigrant Italian parents, Anna and Domenico. He attended St. Edmond’s grammar school and Bishop Neumann High School. He received a B.S. in Psychology from St. Joseph’s University in 1966; a M.S. in Psychology from the University of Delaware in 1969; and a Ph.D. in Education from Walden University in 1978.
He was a much-loved clinical psychologist and served many clients throughout his lifetime. He often gave expert witness to the courts of Chester County in child and adolescent development. He also served as the Director for Child and Adult Mental Health Services for Mental Health Services of Chester County, Pennsylvania, and the Director of Mental Health Services of Brattleboro, Vermont. For many decades he ministered in private practice, aiding children and families in counseling.
John was a lover of nature and animals. He often would be seen walking the trails of Valley Forge Park alongside his beloved beagles, Oliver and Jackson. At home, he delighted in feeding the deer and welcoming the birds and wildlife that visited his backyard.
He loved to entertain his family for the holidays and also at the Jersey shore. In his younger years, John enjoyed black and white photography, painting, tennis, and skiing. John also enjoyed his travels to Italy.
John took his Christian life seriously. He was an Associate of Daylesford Abbey and participated and supported other Christian churches.
He is survived by his son, Michael and three brothers, Vincent, Rev. John Joseph, and Robert, as well as his life-long friend and beloved companion, Kathy Stelzer.
