Karen Jean Betts

Karen was a long-time resident of Elverson, PA and before that, King of Prussia, PA. She was born on October 27th, 1944, in Bryn Mawr Hospital to parents Virginia and Bill Gledhill. She graduated from Upper Merion High School and continued her education at Bryn Mawr College to become a nurse. After many years working as a labor and delivery nurse, Karen went onto enjoy a long career in clinical research at ICON.

Karen lived her life for her daughters and grandchildren. She loved them with all her heart and was loved deeply in return. She was caring and generous. Her friends from her time in clinical research and nursing knew her as a kind and experienced mentor and ally.

Karen is survived by her three daughters: Michelle Betts and her husband, Chris Maistrellis, Kristin Anthony and her husband Mark Anthony, Danielle McCartney and her husband Joseph McCartney. She was also blessed with six grandchildren, Conor and Megan McCartney, Grace Anthony, Sophia Maistrellis and her step-grandchildren Cleo Driscoll (and her husband Alex and children Cadence and Liam) and Ryan Anthony (and her husband Zach Hutchinson). Karen is also survived by her siblings Michael Gledhill and Margaret Ciliberto (and Duke Ciliberto).

We will be having a Memorial Gathering to celebrate our mother on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 12 to 3pm at Bella Trattoria (366 Ridge Road, Spring City, PA 19475).
