Ruth L. Von Kummer

Ruth Livingston von Kummer, 60, of West Chester, PA passed away suddenly at home on June 4, 2015, after many battles and recoveries from two brain tumor surgeries over the last 14 years.

She was the wife of William J. Crawford Jr., with whom she would have celebrated their 23rd anniversary together on June 19th. Born in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of Samuel M. and Frances Hill von Kummer of Wallingford, PA. Where she graduated from Nether Providence High School in 1972.

Ruth was a writer and spent many years in Advertising and Direct Marketing where she achieved Vice President at Devon Direct by 1989. Ruth had owned her own beauty consultant business and taught classes, but her real passion was jewelry. Starting as a telephone representative, she gravitated to the jewelry sales planning area at QVC, Inc., and for 18 years, loved every minute of planning the on-air shows for many prominent jewelry designers including Joan Rivers, Honora Pearls, Robert Lee Morris, Nolan Miller, Kenneth J. Lane, Carolyn Pollack, Barbara Bixby, Michael Dawkins and Judith Ripka, Most of all, she enjoyed contributing ideas and creativity to all her professional endeavors.

Ruth was a loving dog owner, always a companion to multiple lucky dogs. A member of PETA, ASPCA, and volunteering at Chester County SPCA, she was deeply passionate in advocating for animal welfare. She graduated from Ursinus College with a B.A., class of 1977 as well as Charles Morris Price School of Advertising.

She is survived, in addition to her husband and three loving dogs, by her sister, Marian Helinsky of Lansdale, PA and four nieces; Heather Helinsky, Sara H. Herman, Dyan S. Branstetter (Matthew) and Robin S. Coons (Matthew). She is preceded in death by her sister Margaret “Pegge” v.K. Shannon.

Services and interment will be private.
