Seyed Mansoor Hashemi, MD, age 84, passed away on December 26, 2025, after a brave battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born, raised, and educated in Tehran, Iran, Mansoor carried with him a deep pride in his roots. Immigrating to the US in 1969, he lived in New York and ultimately settled in the Philadelphia area, establishing his career as a radiologist. Mansoor was thoughtful, precise, and deeply committed to his work, eventually leading the radiology department at North Penn Hospital until his retirement.
In 1965, Mansoor married the love of his life, Shirin Hashemi, beginning a partnership that spanned decades and formed the heart of his world. Together, they raised two daughters, Hedy and Shideh, who were the great joys of his life and the recipients of his unwavering love, guidance, and high—but always well-intended—standards.
Family meant everything to Mansoor. He was part of a large extended family and held immense pride in and love for his siblings, nephews, nieces, and the many relatives who filled his life with connection, laughter, and shared history. He also cherished his dear friends, whom he considered family in every sense of the word.
Outside of work, Mansoor truly came alive surrounded by people. His favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends, playing poker, watching Philadelphia sports, and traveling the world. He appreciated good food, good company, and a good hand of cards—and he approached all three with enthusiasm.
Mansoor loved a good joke and a good laugh, especially when shared with people he loved. He was known for his sense of humor, his warmth, and his incredibly sharp memory and storytelling.
He believed deeply in responsibility, education, and showing up for the people you love. Even through illness, he faced life with dignity, resilience, and quiet strength, continuing to value connection, humor, and presence above all else.
Those who knew Mansoor will remember his steady presence, his stories, his laughter, and the warmth beneath his seriousness. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, the lives he helped, and the memories he created—many of them around a table, a meal, a shared joke, or a deck of cards.
Mansoor will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens (352 South Gulph Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406) at 12pm. For those unable to join the burial, the family will host an open reception from 2-5pm at the family home. Please reach out to Shideh ([email protected]) if you need more information.
