July 23, 1949 – June 14, 2023
Dave died at home, peacefully, after a courageous bout with cancer. He was 73 years old. He lived in Sarpy County, Nebraska his entire life. Dave grew up on his grandparents’ farm and had a happy childhood. He enjoyed riding horses, playing with his dogs, and fishing. In his early teens, the family left the farm and moved to Papillion. He graduated from Papillion-La Vista high school in 1967. In 1968, Dave enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam until 1971. His rank was a Specialist 5 and he worked as a Systems Aircraft Armament Mechanic. After his return home, he went to school at Metropolitan Technical College and graduated in 1977. He then was employed by Western Electric and its successor companies as a welder for 34 years. He retired in 2011.
In 1977 Dave’s only child, Eric, was born. Dave was very proud of Eric and taught him to fish, target shoot and many necessary things. In 1993, Dave met Pam, and they married in 2009. They were together 30 years, they always put each other first, and they had a happy marriage.
Dave enjoyed many vacations with his wife Pam. They were frequent visitors to California to visit family. Dave had a passion for collecting Native American art, and they enjoyed four visits to New Mexico and Arizona. He was a gentle soul and had a dry, quiet sense of humor. He had a great love of music and could always tell you the name of a song and the artist who sang it. Pam and Dave hosted many joyful family holiday celebrations in their home. During this holiday time, Dave loved to dye and hide Easter eggs for the children. But, his favorite holiday was Halloween and he decorated the outside of their home extensively.
Dave is survived by his wife, Pam; his son, Eric (Ann); and extended family who loved him.
Dave is preceded in death by his father, Robert “Fritz” Brown and his mother, Doris Viola Brown (Johnson).
The family would like to thank Nebraska Medical Center Buffet Cancer Center Hospital and all of the home caregivers on Home Instead in Papillion, First Light Home Care, and St. Croix Hospice for all of their excellent care.
