God sightings are those times in our lives  when we "see God." We had a "God sighting" in an elevator at the base hospital years ago as Dave Gustin extended his hand and comforting words to the young man who had accidentally shot his son. What a powerful expression of Christian living. It has been a blessing to call such a man "friend."

Sylvia, Barb and Family,

Like so many others I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss, Dave's influence on my life touches me to this day, from everything he taught me in Scouting, as my Choir Director and as a Friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'll sing Scout Vespers a little stronger tonight knowing he will be watching, helping and maybe even directing and coaching me. God Bless.

Dear Sylvia and family -- I share in your loss and sorrow but surely celebrate the life of a man who, in Scouting and otherwise, was an oustanding role model, mentor, and hero to me in more ways that I can count. Like so many others who knew Dave and were touched and influenced by him I learned a great deal and gained so much from the positive example he always set, his ever-present smile, joy of family and friends, and zest for living. He shall be greatly missed but in no way forgotten.

Sylvia, Rick, and family - Jim and I were so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. We feel very fortunate to have met the you through our friend Lyle and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

Dear Gustin family--Dave had a tremendous impact on my life during the summers he served as a Boy Scout camp director.  Down the road a couple of decades, I also served as a camp director, and my constant internal question was, "is this what Dave would have done?"  

His influence went beyond just camp, thought that is where it all started.  I am grateful for the time I shared with him.  You are all in my thoughts.

Our hearts are heavy with great sadness. We lost a great neighbor. David could always make us smile and we really enjoyed knowing him. He will be missed, but I am sure that the choir group in heaven will really enjoy their newest member. God's Peace to him and the family.

Dave was still the district exective when I first met him at a Boys Town troop meeting. He helped many of us get our start as adult leaders.

So sorry to hear of your loss of Dave.  He was my Camp Director at Camp Cedars the year I work on Camp Staff in 1979.  I have so fond of memories of him and I know that he loved each of you so much - due to all the stories he would share.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.
