David was born in Omaha, Nebraska on October 17, 1944 to Stanley and Mildred (Gray) Mixan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert and sister Gloria (Hynek). He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sylvia (Thrower); daughter, Lauri (Rex) Lerum; sons, David Jr. (Kristin), Kevin (Beth), Steve; sister Jean Svajgl; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
