Emiko Maria Atkinson was born November 23, 1931, in Japan, and passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 94. Emiko was a beloved, faithful, gentle, hard-working, kind-hearted, and loyal presence in the lives of those who knew her. She lived in Papillion, Nebraska, where her days were marked by devotion to family, quiet strength, and the steady grace with which she met life.
Emiko expressed her creativity as a designer, and she also shined on stage as the lead performer of “Teahouse of the August Moon” at the Omaha Community Playhouse, bringing talent and heart to a role that remains a cherished memory.
Emiko’s life was deeply rooted in family. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Thomas Atkinson; her son, William David Atkinson; her daughter, Patricia Marie Atkinson; her grandson, Sean Anthony Atkinson; and her great-grandson, Sean Anthony Atkinson II. Her hard-working spirit and family-dedicated nature shaped a home built on love, loyalty, and care.
In her personal life, Emiko found joy in designing flower arrangements, creating beauty with patient hands and a gentle eye. She also loved Dachshund dogs, and that affection reflected her kind-hearted nature—tender, attentive, and full of quiet delight in the simple companionship of a beloved pet.
With gratitude and appreciation, the family extends special thanks to Elizabeth Rose Atkinson for her support and help. Emiko’s legacy is one of faithful love, gentle perseverance, and the uplifting reminder that a life devoted to family and kindness leaves a lasting light.
