

Frank J. Barrett Cmsgt USAF (retired) passed away quietly on Friday, December 5, 2014, at home with his wife Eleanore by his side after a long valiant battle with cancer. Frank was born in Duluth, MN and was adopted by Arthur and Doris Barrett in 1935. He enlisted in the Air Force in June 1947 serving for 26 years. He retired in June 1973 after being stationed in Texas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Newfoundland, Guam, North Dakota, Korea, and Nebraska. He served as the 26th Air Division Sgt. Major for Operation Bullet Shot during the Vietnam conflict as well as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Strategic Air Command. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Nebraska Furniture Mart, Consultants in Cardiology, Midlands Community Hospital, and as a bus driver for the Bellevue Head Start program and the city of Bellevue's senior citizen program. Frank was an active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church since 1963 serving in the church choir, as an usher and Elder. Frank married Eleanore O. Graese on February 16, 1954, at Hickham AFB, Honolulu, Hawaii. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in February 2014. Frank is survived by his wife, his son John A. Barrett and his wife Darla (Parsons) Barrett of Winchester, Virginia; his son Steven F. Barrett and his wife Cynthia (Rogaskie) Barrett of Laramie, Wyoming; and his daughter Ellen K. (Barrett) Schuck and her husband Douglas L. Schuck of Hudson, Massachusetts. Frank was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Frank will always be known for his love and kindness to others. Funeral services will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 25th and Fairview Road, Bellevue, NE, on Thursday, December 11th at 1:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at Bellevue Cemetery followed by a light meal at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Memorial donations can be made to the Stephens Center, 2723 Q street, Omaha, NE 68107
