

LaVere met his wife, Anne through family members and it was love at first sight. Their first date was on Labor Day weekend 1959, and they were married on December 18, 1959 in Fairbury, Nebraska.
LaVere and Anne originally resided in Fairbury, Nebraska and later moved to Ralston, Nebraska where they raised their children, Angela and Allen. They lived in their home until November 2019.
LaVere was member of the Army of the United States from March 1957 through March 1959; and also served in the reserves for an additional 4 years.
After serving his country, his worked at the Fairbury Creamery, then moved to Omaha where he worked construction until March 1969. That is when he started working for the City of Ralston. While working for the city he held a few different roles, however, the majority of the time he was the Superintendent of Utilities. He worked for over 28 years for the City.
LaVere was also involved with the community. He was a volunteer firefighter and certified EMT for the Ralston Volunteer Fire Department from 1970 – 1990. He was also served on the board of ministries and other roles at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ralston.
LaVere loved to go fishing. He fished all over the state of Nebraska, as well as many other locations in Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Alaska, and even in Canada.
LaVere is preceded in death by his wife for over 63 years, Anne, his parents, Henry and Emma Schipper, and his nephews: Wayne Hardy, Bryan Curry, and Dale Sturm.
He is survived by his children, Angela (Hilton) Taylor of Omaha, Nebraska, and Allen Schipper also from Omaha, Nebraska; Granddaughter Melissa (Dave) Shively and Great-Grandchildren: Parker and Savannah Shively, all of Charlotte, North Carolina. Sister Geraldine (Larry) Smith of Beatrice Nebraska, Sister-in-law, Betty Butler of Fairbury, NE, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
