Peggy was born to Roy and Josie Rutledge in Herman, Nebraska on December 3,1925 and left this earthly world on April 13, 2024, at 98 years, 4 months and 10 days. The family moved to Oakland, Nebraska where she completed high school. During her high school years, she met Jay Rennerfeldt and in 1946 they were married. To this union 4 children were born.
She spent much of her adult life working in the restaurant business. There were many fond memories of her namesake, Peg’s Confectionary in Oakland, often speaking of the many young people that spent many hours with her there. After moving to Omaha, Nebraska she went to work at the Fireside Restaurant working beside many family members. Peggy loved to talk about how proud she was for starting as a server and being promoted to manager of the Beef Baron Room at the Hilton Hotel followed by several other restaurants in the Omaha area and finally ending her career at the age of 90 working at the Sapp Brother’s Truck Stop.
Peggy loved the Huskers. Football, baseball, women’s gymnastics, and volleyball. She was an avid fan of Kansas City Royals baseball and Chiefs football. She would watch them all faithfully.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jay; parents Roy and Josie Rutledge; brother and sister-in-law David and Carol Rutledge; sister-in-law Virginia Rutledge; and brother-in-law Charles Holt.
