Passed away on Aug. 28, 2016. He was born in Duncan, NE on April 24, 1925 to Peter and Catherine Slawinski, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII right out of high school, worked for Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha and North Platte, retiring in North Platte as Yardmaster in 1989. Married Elaine Cary in North Platte in 1951; moved to Papillion in 2002. Survived by Elaine and three children: Jodeen (Dr. Kent) McArdle of Omaha, Kenneth Slowinski of Phoenix, AZ, and Craig (wife Kathleen Murphy) Slowinski of Papillion; four grandchildren: Paige (fiancee Joe Zigtema) McArdle, Brady (Amber) McArdle, Hanna and Marisa Slowinski; sister Helen OBrien of Pleasanton, CA; and sister-in-law Frances Nicholson of Tucson, AZ. Preceded in death by parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
