

Barbara L. Dawson, 74, of Powderly, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 at Heritage House of Paris. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 10:00 am, Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Grant Cemetery, Grant, Oklahoma with Reverend Terry Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Dawson was born July 8, 1940 in Ben Franklin to Jess Johnson and Louise McGee Johnson. Barbara was a beloved mother, sister and “mammaw”. She was well known all around Lamar County where she worked at various Post Offices. Her first Postmaster job was at the Chicota Post Office, then moving on to the Pattonville Post Office where she later retired. Barbara was also a wonderful cook and she loved to can jellies’, jams and fresh vegetables. She loved teaching things to her grandchildren. Barbara was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Jimmy Davidson; a great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Evans; two brothers, Olen & John Wayne Johnson; and one sister, Jean Walls. Survivors include three sons, Tommy (Dale), Gary and John (Lisa) Davidson; two daughters, Jackie Gooding of Powderly and Peggy Davidson of Hugo, OK; 7 grandchildren, Justin (Laura) Evans of Arthur City, Dusty Evans of Hugo, OK, Jamey (Tammy) Evans of Sawyer, OK, Dennis Renfro of Chicota, Joey (Courtney) Renfro of Powderly, Shane Renfro of Forest Chapel, and Jeremy Renfro of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Kace & Kynnason Evans, Chelby Kelley & Kendell Hicks, Rylee & Pierson Evans, Dakota, Chandler & Jacob Renfro, Austin & Tyler Kelley, Carter, Camden, Cooper, Cenedy & Charli Renfro and Zoi & Zandien Renfro; a sister, Ruth High & husband Jack of Paris, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a plethora of friends.
