

Daniel Arlin Roberts, 87, of Detroit, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in Royse City. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 22nd at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shovan & Dr. Tim Reger officiating. Burial will follow in Detroit Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 -7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Roberts, the son of W. Tilden & Ollie Mae Roberts, was born in Woodland. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His career as a Master Mechanic with Arkansas Best Freight in Dallas spanned thirty-five years before his retirement. While serving in Christ’s Kingdom, his life glorified God through teaching Sunday School, serving on numerous committees and being a Greeter. Arlin was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was very active in the Detroit Community and served on the Detroit Community Center Committee. In 1977, he married Jan Roberts, his loving wife, building 26 years of memories before her death in 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Terry Roberts, one brother and two sisters. Survivors include one sister, Allene Jenkins of Waco, three children, Gary Roberts & wife Susan of Royse City, Crystal Livingston & Dewayne Hibbard of Mansfield and Tilla Mercer of Neches, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be: Wesley Brown, Daniel Roberts, Dewayne Hibbard, Tony Riser, Byron Jenkins and Driscoll Jenkins.
