Dorothy Mae Oneal

Dorothy Mae Oneal, 88, of Hammond, LA, formerly of Boxelder, passed away at her home, Sunday, July 31, 2016. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled funeral services for 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Salem Baptist Church in Boxelder with Reverend Mike Redus officiating. Burial will be made in Boxelder Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Oneal was born April 8, 1928 in Annona to Thomas Tadger Mitchell and Lillis Jane Childress Mitchell. She was a graduate of Annona High School and a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church. Mrs. Oneal was a homemaker, and a loving wife and mother to her family. She was a great seamstress and her children shared that she loved to fish and was an avid deer hunter; even better than her husband. She was preceded in death, on May 22, 2016 by her husband, Charles Ray Oneal, Sr., whom she married in Annona on May 20, 1946, building 70 years and 2 days of family and memories; her parents, 5 brothers, I sister and 1 grandchild, Matthew Oneal. Survivors include her children, Carrol Gilcrease of Hammond, LA, Thomas Dow Oneal of Hammond, LA and Charles Ray Oneal, Jr. & wife Diane of Lafayette, LA; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one sister, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
