

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8th at East Post Oak Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Hines officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the cemetery.
Dub, the son of James Matlock & Rovina Akins Matlock, was born May 20, 1941, in Childress, TX. He attended Graham School and West Lamar High School. He was a heavy equipment operator for Local 819 for many years. Following retirement, he and his wife, Trudy, moved back to Lamar County where they owned and operated a dairy farm. Dub was an avid hunter & fisherman, a member of the Lamar County Coon Hunters Club, an archer and participated in bow shooting tournaments. He had a love of horses and enjoyed riding and rodeos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Trudy Matlock, whom he married on Dec. 23, 1963, building 50 years of family and memories before her death on Jan. 20, 2014, a son, Richard Matlock, a grandson, Richard Shane Jackson, and siblings, Estelle Cravens, Patsy Plant, Donna Matlock, Earnest Matlock, J. R. Matlock, and Joyce Smith.
Survivors include three children, Nelia “The Boss” Davidson & husband Chad, Robby Matlock & wife Polly, and Sheila Forrester & husband Carl, grandchildren, Austin Smith & wife Meagen, Taylor Woodard and husband Matt, Casey Hope, Cary Lindsey & wife Jennifer, Christy Weisdorfer & husband James, Ryleigh Sims & husband Austin, Joey Fulps & wife Miranda, Colton Harp, Delana Harp, and Summer Moore, great grandchildren, Slayter Woodard, Chesnie Woodard, Colter Sims, Mollie Grace Smith, Claire Smith, Mason Cadenhead, Savanah Lindsey, Kimber Lindsey, Bryson Wolfe, Hunter Robinson, Orian Mann, Shianne Weisdorfer, James Powell, Colton Fulps, Cason Fulps, Kaylee Moore, and Chandler Moore, great great grandchildren, Kaylynn Fulps, Kade Grimes, and Julia Grimes, and two sisters, Vickie Hall & husband Jeff and Violet Johnson along with many nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
