

In celebration of the life of Margie Louise Scott, of Paris, who passed away Monday, April 18, 2016, at Paris Regional Medical Center. In the true nature of her life she lived to the fullest being 94 years, 1 month, 10 days and 3 minutes. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21st, at East Paris Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Fortenberry & Rev. Ronald Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20th, at the funeral home. Margie, the daughter of Albert & Hattie Brannock Locke, was born March 9, 1922, in Lamar County. She lived through 3 wars, 16 presidents, the dust bowl, the great depression, and rode across the country in 1943, to be with her husband, N. D. “Doug” Scott, at Fort Louis, Washington. She bought shoes and food with ration stamps and would have a quarter to spend for milk and tea. She taught school at Brown School for Girls in 1943-44, in Glendale, CA where her husband was stationed. She began her working career at S. H. Kress Company and then worked for 7 years at Polly’s Childrens Ware. Margie went to work at Gibson’s Discount where she was candy manager and eventually head cashier for 25 years. She retired from Gibson’s in 1983, only to be called by her friend, Jimmie, who was manager of Goodwill. She went to work with Jimmie and stayed there 15 years. She retired from Goodwill to care for her husband. Margie loved life and it was apparent in all her activities. She loved to go to Primetime and play 42, dominos and bingo. She loved to watch the Mavricks, Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. Margie was a longtime, faithful member of East Paris Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, N. D. “Doug” Scott on Nov. 26, 1996, her parents, a daughter-in-law, Barbara Jean Scott, three sisters, Alice Marie Holley, Anna Mae McKinney and Mable Locke, one brother, W. A. Lock, Jr., and a sister-in-law, Peggy Locke. Survivors include a son, Gary Scott of Diana, a daughter, Linda Howard and husband Dewayne of Sumner, grandchildren, Wendy Kay Scott, Douglas Wayne Scott & wife Candy, Heather Louise Richard & husband Shane, Chad Bird & wife Elizabeth and Kristen Blanton & husband Allen, great grandchildren, Candice Nicole Weinrich, Jacob Scott, Taylor Scott, Kimber-Lyn Thomas, Joseph Scott, Jotham Bird, Jackson Scott, Zoe-Jayne Richard, Ben Richard, Wyatt Blanton and Addie Scott, great great grandchildren, Alaxia Weinrich and Dakota Weinrich, two brothers, George Locke and Jacob Locke & wife Joyce, a sister-in-law, Robbie Jo Meadlin, 27 nieces & nephews, 50 great nieces & nephews and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be: Larry Bramhall, Doug Scott, Chad Bird, Shane Richard, Allen Blanton & Jacob Scott. Honorary bearers will be: Joseph Scott, J. D. Weinrich and Jerry Dolf. God gave our family a special gift to love, cherish, share our lives, our hopes and dreams. But now our time has ended as God has called her home.
