Mildred Irene Plott Nance, 93, of Reno, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Heritage House of Paris. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19th, at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. P. R. Byers officiating. Though a formal visitation is not scheduled, friends and family may sign Mrs. Nance’s guestbook at the funeral home. Mrs. Nance was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Oklahoma. On August 8, 1937, she married Charles Lesley Nance, building 67 years of family and memories before his death on June 9, 2005. She was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. Mildred always looked forward to attending church. One of the highlights of her life was being “Nanny” to Sara and Laura and living long enough to see them grow into adults and have a family of their own. For the past two years and four months she has resided at Heritage House of Paris, and there she met a very special friend, Sandra Leath, whom she called Sandy. The last month has been a struggle for Mildred, but she was determined to make it to her 93rd birthday. She did just that on Thursday, August 14th. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nettie Hatch Plott, her husband, Charles Lesley Nance, a son, Billy Ray Nance, a grandson, Michael Don Nance and four brothers, James, Pete, Tucker, John and Tilman Plott. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Howell & husband Don of Reno, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Plott & Pauline Plott both of Taylortown, extended family, Sara, Adrian & Hannah Glover of Houston and Laura Blouin and Ethan & Elizabeth Berry of Houston along with several nieces and nephews. Casket bearers will be: Don Howell, Adrian Glover, Danny Plott, David Parker and David Blouin. The family would like to extend special appreciation to Heritage House of Paris and the staff for the love and care given their loved one.
