

Norma Jean Shannon, 71, of Sumner, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at her home. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Brandon Autry & Mark McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery at Clarksville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Shannon, the daughter of Billy Elder & Fannie Phillips Hubbard, was born Sept. 27, 1945, in Clarksville. She attended Clarksville High School. Her career with the United States Postal Service spanned more than thirty years. She was post master of the Sumner post office at the time of her retirement. Following her retirement she volunteered at the Paris Pregnancy Center until her health failed. Jean founded the local chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation and in lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to The Scleroderma Foundation, c/o Texas Bluebonnet Chapter, P. O. Box 1836, Allen, TX 75013. She was a member of Direct Baptist Church where she was a group leader and taught the Women of Faith Sunday School Class. Her parents and a brother, Charles Phillip Hubbard, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, J. R. Shannon, whom she married on June 1, 2001, children; Jerry Lawrence Green, Jr. & wife Leigh Ann of Paris, Jana Henderson of Sulphur Springs, Phillip Lee Green & wife Virginia of Pickton, Stephen Blake Sheffield & wife Dusty of Sulphur Springs, Ricky Lynn Shannon & wife Kokie of Mobile, AL and Robbin Cherise McKinney & husband Mark of Ft. Worth, fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a sister, Jo Hubbard McGregor & husband Coy of Paris, a brother, Don Alan Hubbard of Detroit along with several nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends. Casket bearers will be: Tyler Henderson, Trey Henderson, Jeremy Garner, Trevor Crawford, Sam Sheffield, Ben Sheffield, Bradley Wallace and Jacob Boatman. Dalton Shannon will serve as an honorary casket bearer.
