

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2nd at Emberson Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Reed officiating. Burial will be made in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 1st from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Bivens, the son of James Newton Bivens & Delia Bramlett Bivens, was born March 21, 1942, in Paris, TX.
He attended Paris Schools and Delmar High School. Sammy’s career with Campbell Soup spanned 38 years before his retirement. He had been a volunteer fireman with the Lamar Point VFD.
His parents and three siblings, Sylvia Hutchins, James Bivens, and Eddy Bivens, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Coonfield Bivens, whom he married on Nov. 21, 1981, building 44 years of memories, children, Tony & wife Debbie, Sherman & wife Crystal, Tami & husband Tracy, and Angie & husband Jon, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a sister, Denise Browning & husband Jack along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Davy Bivens, Josh Bivens, Josh Streety, Tye Bivens, Zach Bivens, and Dillon Self.
