Sarah Jeynell Atkinson

Sarah Jeynell Ellingburg Atkinson, 80, of the Caviness Community, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Brentwood Care & Rehabilitation Center. Services are scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Jerry Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Atkinson, the daughter of Lawrence Ellingburg, Jr. & Mattie Alice Bethany Ellingburg, was born July 22, 1936, in Philadelphia, MS. She worked a number of years at the Loop Burger. On June 28, 1974, she married John Lee Atkinson, Jr., and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a step-daughter, Margaret, a sister, Annie Mae Nicholson & husband Miller, a brother, Deward “Dub” Ellingburg and a brother-in-law, Johnny Nicholson. Survivors include her companion, Bruce Reed, children; Cordelia, Jean, Debra, Georgia “Gina”, Chris, Steve, Roy, Traci, Diane, and Scottie, numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two brothers, Grady Ellingburg and Buddy Ellingburg, a sister, Leora Nicholson along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
