Charles “Charlie” L. Pennington, 87, of Parkersburg passed away Aug 12, 2010 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Apr. 8, 1923 in Charleston, WV a son of the late Levi and Mae Tribble Pennington. He was a member of the very 1st graduating class of Stonewall Jackson High School, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, was very involved in youth sports and coached baseball for 25 years. He retired from Dupont after 35 years of service and taught welding at WVU-P.
He is survived by his wife, Betty J. (Meadows) Pennington; one son, Larry Pennington and wife Joyce of Williamstown; one daughter, Jo Lynne Pennington of Raleigh, NC; one grandchild, Leah (Mike) Pender; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hannah, and Samantha Pender.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant brother Thomas, brother, Leroy Pennington; and sister, Maureen Rust.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at 12:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
