Delmas Dale Kirby

Delmas served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Era veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the outdoors, spending time with his family. But he is most known for his storytelling. Delmas enjoyed going to church at the Walker United Methodist Church. He was an active member of the NRA, a conservationist with the WVDNR and WV Department of Agriculture.

Delmas worked for Challenger Electric as a foreman for many years and then took on a second career at a sawmill.

He leaves behind a loving family and a great legacy for all to follow. Those left behind to cherish his memory are: son; Robert (Julie) Kirby, Lee (Jerica) Kirby; daughters; Betty ( Allan) Rice, Angie (Ted)

Kinder, Joanne Kimble, Bobbie Jo (Frank) Neer; grandchildren; Brandid, Grace, Caroline, Sarah, Chrisin, Hope, Brooke, Henry, Thomas, Jacob, Alexandria, Logan, Megan, Zach, Josh, Franklin, Levi, and two very special grandchildren, Rylee and Chloe; and several great grandchildren; brothers; Wilbur (Donnie) Kirby, Bill (Connie) Kirby; sisters and sister-in-laws; Betty Adams, Wilma Spencer, and Norene Kirby.

Delmas was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 40 years, Icy; brother; Howard Kirby; brother-in-laws, Nelson Adams, Ronnie Spencer;in-laws, Delford Smarr, Chuck and Grace Duff and grandchildren, C.J., Taylor, and Kyleigh Jean.

He will be greatly missed by all who know him.

A Memorial Service will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Rick Haught Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service. Burial will follow at a later date.
