Doris G Baker

The children of Doris Baker of Vienna, WV, are sad to announce the passing of our beloved mother. She died at age 96 on Thursday, 11 May 2023, in Marietta (Ohio) Memorial Hospital. Mom died surrounded by her loved ones. Celebration of life will occur at a later date with only close family members present.

Doris was born on 26 December 1926 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Fred and Willie Hocutt Gaddis. She married her lifelong spouse, Robert Hardy Baker, Sr., on 5 September 1947 in Mobile, Alabama.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her children Barbara Nicholson (Waine), Mary Fleming (John), Lynde Baker, and Robert Baker, Jr. (Diana); surviving grandchildren are Bridgette Bethune, Gwynn Kestler, Trisha Kitchen, Scott Chamberlain, Mary Fellows, Jessie Thompson, Jordan Baker, and J.P. Fleming. Several great grandchildren and one great great grandson survive. She was predeceased by her husband on 18 December 1999, siblings Mary Mosley and Buddy Gaddis, by her son-in-law Calvin Baker, and her great granddaughter Catrina Kitchen.

The family respectfully requests no flowers or gifts. We extend sincere thanks to the staff of Marietta Memorial Hospital and Marietta Home Health and Hospice for their wonderful concern and care. Our loss is heaven's gain.
